{I'm coo coo for coco}

With my knee issues and all of the other issues that I constantly whine about, my trainer advised me to start drinking coconut water.
I SWEAR ON A STACK OF PANCAKES, THAT THIS AGUA CREATES MIRACLES!!!!
Yes!!!  I guess you could call it Jesus in a can.
After drinking one 11 oz. container, my knees, muscles an joints felt better immediately.
And...I LOVE the taste!!!
I would drink these all day long if I didn't think I would turn into a pina colada.
I drink one before a run/workout and one after.
The price ranges from $1.25-$1.99 ea.
Seems costly??
Not any more expensive than a cup o' coffee, Gatorade or a soda and the benefits are priceless!!!
Great for kids in sports!
Sugar free
Fat free
Natural electrolytes
As much potassium as 2 banannas
And many, many more cool things!!!!
mmmmmmmm.....try it!
you'll like it!
(my trainer also recommended sitting in an ice bath for 10 minutes.....after sticking my big toe in the water and everything outer and internally shriveling in horror,
I said no.....
HELL NO.....
and double OH MY HELL SHES TRYING TO KILL ME WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THIS????
I decided to just stick to the coconut water for now)

10 Reasons to drink coconut water

1. Perfect Hydration: Water from the young green coconut is nature’s perfect hydrating beverage. At every age and stage of our lives, there are times when we become dehydrated, due to illness, medication, exercise, heat, pregnancy, aging, alcohol – they all cause us to lose the essential electrolytes found in our bloodstream. We need to replace them regularly to prevent headaches; muscle cramping; fatigue; and to help our heart, nerves and muscles to function optimally. O.N.E. Coconut Watercontains all five electrolytes found in the blood, including calcium, sodium, phosphorous, magnesium and potassium.
2. It’s 100 % PURE: O.N.E. Coconut Water has just one ingredient – nothing added.
It is fat- and cholesterol-free and contains no wheat, gluten, soy, corn or other food allergens. Packaged straight from the coconut into airtight, aseptic, Tetra Pak cartons, it stays fresh and protected from the destabilizing effects of light and oxygen for 10 months.
3. Optimum Body Functioning: Unlike tropical juices and many brands of bottled water, coconut water is alkaline, which soothes and balances our systems. By improving the absorption of all nutrients, vitamins, minerals and amino acids, the body can digest with greater efficiency, thus reducing constipation, relieving stress on the pancreas and enzyme systems, regulating sodium and supporting kidney function. Animal studies show that coconut water consumption reduces plaque formation in the arteries, which in turn reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. There is also evidence to suggest that coconut water promotes healthy blood pressure levels and cardiovascular function.
4. Super Support During Pregnancy and Lactation: Pregnancy isn’t easy on a woman’s body. Poor hydration can cause morning sickness, heartburn, weight gain, constipation, stretch marks and fluid retention. The Institute of Medicine recommends 10 cups of fluid per day for pregnant women and 13 cups for nursing mothers. Coconut water is an ideal choice, improving circulation, digestion and pH balance. Because fluids improve skin elasticity, the chances of stretch marks are diminished. Fluids aid in the absorption of water-soluble vitamins like ascorbic acid and the B vitamins, which are crucial to fetal development.
5. Essential When Kids Are Sick: When infants and children vomit or have diarrhea from intestinal flu or other stomach ailments, they lose precious essential electrolytes, which must be replaced rapidly to prevent dehydration. Many pediatric drinks contain artificial colors and flavors and are high in sugar. O.N.E. Coconut Water has a refreshing natural taste that fussy, sick kids will be happy to drink.
6. Revitalizes Seniors: Dehydration in the aged is a growing concern. A lack of adequate fluid intake impacts circulation and blood pressure, and the loss of minerals and carbohydrates exacerbate a host of other issues, including glaucoma. Medicines, less mobility and a reduced awareness of being thirsty are a few of the reasons many older people are dehydrated.
7. The Definitive Sports Drink: O.N.E. Coconut Water naturally replaces electrolytes and glucose lost during exercise, especially potassium, which positively affects circulation, body temperature, heart function and blood pressure – issues related to extreme levels of exercise. O.N.E. Coconut Water contains 15 times the potassium of most sports drinks and twice as much as a banana. And, because it promotes rapid absorption by speeding fluids to the muscles, it keeps athletes and anyone who exercises, fully refreshed for practice and performance.
8. An Indispensable Travel Companion: It’s easy to get dehydrated when traveling, especially by plane. For those with existing circulatory problems and swollen limbs, potassium is especially crucial during air travel. In fact, The American Medical Association found that beverages containing electrolytes and carbohydrates are more effective than water in preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). O.N.E. Coconut Water is a great beverage to drink just before boarding a plane. Our lightweight Tetra Pak cartons travel well and can now be found at airports across the country, including JFK and LAX.
9. A Natural Beauty Boost: Ever wonder why island women are so beautiful? Could be the coconut water they drink. It keeps skin soft, supple and smooth by hydrating naturally at the cellular level. It is known to relieve dry itchy skin and can even be used on a cotton ball as a toner to soothe and refresh.
10. A Hangover Helper: Alcohol is a diuretic, which depletes minerals needed for the body to function normally. It causes acids to accumulate in the stomach and intestines, which inflames the stomach lining resulting in heartburn. The alkaline Ph of coconut water soothes the digestive tract and helps the liver and kidney filter out toxins. O.N.E. Coconut Water quickly replenishes electrolytes and increases hydration, a lifesaver when suffering from the ill effects of consuming too much alcohol.

Thanks for the info. I've been considering cocoanut water for some time, but I believe I've read that cocoanut meat is high in fat content???
I've not taken time to check on nutritional content and possible benefit of the cocoanut water.
I'm going for it--soon as I get to a store. Is it at Smiths and everywhere? I didn't know it came in cans.
I know the Mexicans in Mexico consume a substantial amount of cocoanut product, including the cocoanut water.

Go for your present running regimen, etc, but what about your knees? Take meticulous, attentive care of your knees. Tendons in legs and ankles --careful, careful, careful.

Think of all these athletes and dancers who suffer knee, tendon -- and foot -- issues. Easy, easy, easy work it slowly and carefully is my caution.

I am hoping to get back to working out soon. My eyes aren't healed yet. I'm feeling a little better each day.

I make rice pudding with coconut milk... Do you think it has the same results and benefits?

Meg....coconut milk is very different from the water. It is made from the ground pulp and is high in fat, cholesterol and calories vs. the water which is low calories and 0 fat and 0 cholesterol. I think the water carries the better nutrition.
Try it!!!! You'll love it!!!

Gma!

I've found it at Smiths in the health food section and at Harmons. They also sell it at Costo in a 12 pack for $14.75. Get a container of it and see how you like it...if you do, I will pick you up the 12 pack.
